Ara severus

Chestnut-fronted Macaw

The Chestnut-fronted Macaw (Ara severus) is one of the smallest macaw species, frequently seen and heard. It is distinguished by its predominantly green plumage, a characteristic chestnut-brown patch on its forehead, and bare white facial patches marked with delicate lines of black feathers. In flight, it reveals striking blue and red tones on its wings. These highly intelligent and social birds are often seen in pairs or small flocks, foraging primarily for fruits and seeds from palms and various urban trees.
