Sayornis nigricans

A medium-sized flycatcher with distinctive sooty-black plumage contrasting with a crisp white lower belly and undertail coverts. It is closely tied to flowing water environments such as rocky rivers and streams, where it continuously wags and pumps its tail while perching. It sally-hunts for flying insects in swift, agile flights over the water.
