My Experience

Here is the English version, crafted to sound completely native, warm, and poetic, while preserving the deep personal meaning and beautiful imagery of your original text: This is probably going to be my most personal recommendation yet, simply because of the deep admiration I have for the people who built this project, and because I’ve been able to witness its construction and realization firsthand. It’s a dream I’ve watched come true, and it always brings to mind that line from the Mägo de Oz song: "When a dream dies... it's because it has become real." This place was truly designed and thought out to break away from the routine, the city noise, and everyday worries. It allows you, for a moment in time, to reconnect with the basics—which are no less essential for being simple. It's about what anchors us to reality, to our surroundings, and to nature. For someone like me, who loves a good cup of coffee, a great conversation, a good book, or simply enjoying the silence, the rustle of the leaves, and the breeze moving through the trees, this cabin is a true sanctuary of rest and tranquility. And it's completely surrounded by beautiful, colorful birds. Among these wonderful birds is one of my absolute favorites: the Rufous-breasted Antpitta (Tororoi Compadre). It’s a rare gem that's usually incredibly difficult to find, but I’ve been lucky enough to spot it here several times. To wrap things up, because texts can't go on forever, I want to reiterate my respect and admiration for the creators—my cousin and Samy. The idea was born from them, and they are the ones keeping this whole experience alive. I highly invite you to come and experience this cabin in the woods for yourself.

About the Area

If you're planning a getaway to this forest refuge, here are the two easiest ways to get there from Medellín: If you're taking public transit: * Head to the Terminal del Norte and buy a ticket with either Cootransda or Coopetransa. * Let the driver know you need to get off at Alto de Matasanos, right by the D1 store. * Once you're there, you can catch a local ride, or, my top recommendation, contact the hosts at Maderalia Cabin directly to arrange their shuttle service so you can get there hassle-free. If you're driving: * It couldn't be easier: just plug the location into Waze or Google Maps. Head north out of the city, take the rural road turnoff at Alto de Matasanos, and from there, just follow the signs that lead you straight to the cabin.
